In addition to the successful secondary school leaving certificate and the qualifying secondary school leaving certificate, students have the opportunity to obtain the intermediate school leaving certificate.
Many pupils take the path to the intermediate school leaving certificate. From Year 7 onwards, the more able pupils attend M classes with a higher level of requirements and are thus specifically prepared for the intermediate school leaving certificate.
To be admitted to an M class, a certain average grade in German, mathematics and English must be achieved in the intermediate school report or an entrance examination must be passed. It is possible to switch between the regular and intermediate classes after each year if the student performs well.
